A vegetarian alternative to Clam Spread
Ingredients

Mushroom | 1 Cup, Chopped |
Mushroom Stock | 1 Cup |
Lemon Juice | 1 Teaspoon |
Butter | 1 Stick |
Green Pepper | 1 Medium, Chopped |
Onion | 1 Medium, Chopped |
Garlic | 3 Cloves, Minced |
Tabasco | 35 Dashes1 |
Bread Crumbs | 1 Cup, Dried |
American Cheese | Slices to Cover the Top |
Instructions
- Simmer mushroom stock and lemon juice in small pan for 5-10 minutes.
- In medium frying pan, melt butter and sauté remaining ingredients except bread crumbs and cheese for 5-10 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
- Remove both pans from heat and combine with mushroom stock, lemon juice with vegetables and bread crumbs.
- Place mixture in small baking dish, top with cheese, and bake at 350°F (175°C) or microwave until dip is hot and cheese is melted.
Serve hot with crackers.
